The Western Arc – Connecting 5 of Irelands 6 largest Cities
October 10, 2013
The Western Corridor or Western Arc is the single most important initiative the Irish Government could adopt to promote balanced economic development and tap investment funding from the European Union in support of it.
With the radial routes from Dublin to most of the main cities now complete, now is the time to focus on developing a Western Arc connecting Cork, Limerick, Galway, Derry and Belfast. Intersecting all of the east-west radials, the Arc is essential for maximising the total gain from existing national road, rail, air, sea, energy and broadband networks, and for releasing the full economic potential of the BMW Region by developing the missing elements here. This would bring immeasurable national and regional benefits but it requires a leap of imagination and initiative
