Location & Transport

Location is everything! Claremorris is a thriving, growing town, located in the Heart of the West. Rail services link the town to the Midlands and Dublin in the east of the country and an excellent road network allows travel to Dublin in approximately 2.5 hours, Galway in under an hour and Limerick in 1.5 hours. All of this partnered with the town’s proximity to Ireland West Airport (Knock) and Shannon Airport, open up Europe and the rest of the world to the town.

 

Education

Claremorris benefits from a large choice in primary schools, located both in the town and in the surrounding countryside. St. Colman’s College for boys and Mount St. Michael Secondary School for girls caters for the second levelary school population. Both schools have excellent reputations and modern educational and recreational facilities. The town’s transport links and ideal location means that there are a range of Universities and Information Technology Colleges within a commutable distance, such as Atlantic Technology University (ATU) campuses in Mayo (at Castlebar), Athlone town, Sligo town, Galway City and five other locations in the northwest , and the University of in Galway., Athlone ATU and ATU Sligo. This provides Claremorris and its surroundings with a highly educated workforce from which to recruit.

 

Sports & Recreation Facilities

Claremorris lives and breathes sport and recreation. The town boasts state-of-the-art facilities and pitches, and a range of clubs including GAA, Soccer, Rugby (including tag rugby), Swimming (two pools), Athletics, Tennis, Golf, Bridge, Squash, an equestrian centre and a range of gyms for the health conscious. The Athletics club benefits from a state-of-the-art 400m Mondo running track, and a 60m indoor running track with changing facilities. For walkers and cyclists, there are over 10 km of gravel paths around Mayfield and Clare Lakes. There are also many other facilities and pitches within 20 km of the town, including the huge Air Dome indoor pitch at the Connacht GAA Centre of Excellence near Bekan

 

Community, Amenities & Events

Claremorris has an active and thriving community with a range oF community organisations and initiatives such as a tidy Towns Committee, Claremorris Community Radio, St. Patricks Day Committee and the Agricultural Show Committee which takes place annually on the August Bank Holiday Sunday. The Annual Drama festival attracts crowds from near and far to the Town Hall.
